Creating a new branch

The new branch structure and functionalities are being rolled out to goUrbans customers consecutive

To create a new branch, you need to do it from mind map (see more in Managing branches section).

💡 Once operator creates location or category branch, you won’t be able to change the type of the branch.

Create Category branch

Creation of category branch is rather simple. It only holds few basic information: Name, Description, Business Unit and Branch state.

Once all required fields have been filled in, Create button on top right will be enabled. User needs to click on that button in order to create it, and they will be returned back to branch mind-map in order to continue managing their branches.

Business unit dropdown is filled in with Business Units created in system (read more about Business Units and how to manage them). This field will be pre-selected with the Business Unit of parent branch, but will not update in case Business Unit of parent branch gets updated in the future.


Create Location branch

Creating Location branch is a 3 step based process.


  1. First step

    On the first step, user is required to fill in Name of the branch, select Business Unit, Operational mode, Branch state and branch location. On this step, user can also decide if branch is going to be private or not, what is the branch code and description.

    Business unit dropdown is filled in with Business Units created in system (read more about Business Units and how to manage them). This field will be pre-selected with the Business Unit of parent branch, but will not update in case Business Unit of parent branch gets updated in the future.

    To setup branch location, user can type in the address for branch location in the field on top of the map shown in the right side panel. After map is showing the area where branch location should be, user can fine-tune it by dragging the pointer to the exact location which needs to be set for branch location.

    After filling in all the necessary information, user can create on Create button on top right corner to continue setting up the branch, which would then lead the user to the second step of branch creation.

    Once user clicks on Create button, branch will be created and at that point, user is going into the edit mode of the branch. If user chooses to close the branch creation page after the branch has been created (user clicked on Create button), they won’t be able to delete that branch.
  2. Second step
    Second step is used for area management. You can read more about areas and how to manage them here.
  3. Third step

    Third step is contained of various branch settings. Which setting is shown on the this step depends on the branch operational mode selected on the first step.

    For each tab on this step, there is Save button on top right corner, and after the changes have been made to any section in the tab, user needs to click on Save button in order to save the changes. 

    Note: This is applicable to all tabs except on Rental Requirements and Pricing tabs, where changes are being saved immediately after the change has been made.
